DAY 7/8 — 7 wonders of nature
El Nido was absolutely amazing, but now it's time to enter the great unknown of Puerto Princesa - The Underground river. My sister decided to make this the last part of our itinerary since there is nothing much to do in Puerto Princesa compared to El Nido. Plus, it was a great way to maximize the trip since the airport was in the same area as well. A little tip, allot a whole day for the Underground river since this is an absolute tourist spot so expect it to be crowded even in off seasons.
Upon arriving to the port area, you will be taking a boat to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park which is in the west coast of the island, it will take about 30 minutes or so, but no worries the view is always worth while. Once you arrive to the park an usher will orient you regarding the audio tour which I find very convenient since there is an option of English, Tagalog and even Taglish.
The boat can accommodate at least 10-12 people plus the tour guide. Once you enter the cave, you would already get goosebumps cause you can tell it has so much history in it. And not to mention the tour guide had a great sense of humor that literally I preferred the tour guide rather than the audio in my ears. I must say the people in this island are absolutely friendly. The tour will take about 45 minutes, but trust me it felt longer than that since the whole cave was about 8.2km long and flows underground through natural rock formations and you can only visit up to 3.9km, more than that you would have to need a permit. Some of the rock formations look similar to food, people, famous witty statues, well according to our tour guide.
Overall the whole experience was amazing, I would highly recommend it and say that everyone should at least go see it once in their lives. How great would it be to say that you have actually seen one of the 7 wonders of nature. Definitely a great way to end a great trip.
